Key Tech partnered with Restorative Therapies to update their Xcite system to allow clinicians to easily and efficiently apply multi-channel Functional Electronic Stimulation (FES) with task-specific activities commonly completed in therapy. FES enables those living with paralysis to enhance the human body’s capacity for micro-repair and can help counteract complications often experienced by this patient group.
Xcite2 enhances the impact of the traditional therapeutic activities that support muscle re-education by incorporating:
• A modular design that allows therapists to use the device in a variety of ways; on-cart, off-cart, and remote
• Lightweight and carriable design that makes it easier to navigate therapy spaces and activities while interacting directly with patients
• Adjustable and removable tablet for better visibility and flexibility in treatment setup
• A mobile height adjustable therapy cart with large device adjacent working surface incorporating integrated hooks that enable quick hanging of cables and accessories
Key Tech built upon Restorative Therapies updated componentry and completed usability engineering, industrial design, and mechanical design of the Excite2 over a period of approximately 8 months, resulting in an alpha prototype device. The device is now in production and gets consistently positive reviews from the field.
