Name: Caitlin Lee, Electrical Engineer
Graduated from: University of Maryland College Park
Hometown: Cabin John, MD
Why did you pick Key Tech?
I knew I wanted to go into product development because I wanted to see how the knowledge I gained from college could be used to create something tangible. I wanted the products to help people and thought that the fields of biology and medicine were interesting, so working on medical devices was ideal. Key Tech was the perfect fit!
What do you like best about Key Tech so far?
The variety of work. It’s great that if I feel like I’ve hit a wall working on a certain task, I can switch gears to doing something completely different. And dogs 🙂
Favorite project work so far?
Testing a PCBA for the first time. I did simulations and calculations beforehand and it was super exciting to see that everything was behaving as expected.
What are you excited about in the next year?
Designing a board and seeing it as part of a larger system. Also, continuing to learn and becoming a better electrical engineer in general.
If you could have an unlimited supply of something what would that be?
Freshly baked bread.
Name: Zachary Breit, Computer Engineer
Graduated from: University of Maryland, College Park
Hometown: Fanwood, NJ
Why did you pick Key Tech?
In college, I was sad to see many of my peers in Computer Engineering end up in purely software jobs. As someone passionate about hardware and software, I wanted to work at Key Tech so I could be involved in multi-disciplinary projects with real-world impacts.
What do you like best about Key Tech so far?
Since I started at Key Tech, my work has felt fast-paced, impactful, and technically challenging. I wake up every day excited to come into the office. In my first two months, I’ve already done work on three different projects! Another great aspect of Key Tech is the supportive and friendly community. Everyone here is happy to answer my questions, and I never feel embarrassed to report any setbacks to my team. There are also lots of opportunities to socialize with coworkers both in and out of the office (bar trivia has been especially fun).
Favorite project work so far?
As part of my first project, I wrote firmware for a custom circuit board on an in-vitro diagnostic device. It was my first time writing code for a custom electronic system, and I can’t wait to do similar work on future projects.
What are you excited about in the next year?
Next year, I’m excited to get more involved in firmware development and to see my work make its way onto a real-world device.
If you could have an unlimited supply of something what would that be?
It may just be the fall weather talking, but I could really go for an unlimited supply of pumpkin muffins.
Name: Jaz’mine Fossett-Archer, Junior Accountant
Graduated from: I’m currently attending the University of MD Global Campus to finish my degree in accounting
Hometown: Frederick, MD
Why did you pick Key Tech?
I picked Key Tech because I wanted to soak up as much knowledge as possible. I didn’t want to limit my learning or growth and I knew Key Tech would be the place to foster my skills and bring out the best in me.
What do you like best about Key Tech so far?
What I like best about Key Tech is the comradery and how welcoming everyone has been. I’ve noticed from the first day that there is a high employee morale, and every individual seems to enjoy what they do. As a result, each person is contributing to the bigger picture here at Key Tech.
Favorite project work so far?
I’m not working on a “project” since I’m in accounting however, I’m enjoying the training process and putting my best foot forward in this position.
What are you excited about in the next year?
I’m excited to reach personal goals that I have set for myself in this calendar year into the next. I feel more goal orientated than ever before and I want my life to reflect that.
If you could have an unlimited supply of something what would that be?
If I had an unlimited supply of something it would be time. Time to do each activity, or deal with the repercussions of wasted time, or getting around to “need to-do lists”. If I had an abundance of time, it would be impactful for me to put my time to use towards something that would benefit me or bring me happiness. Sometimes we get caught up in day-to-day living that we forget to be available for ourselves and devote time to our crafts.
Name: Josie Martin, Mechanical Engineer
Graduated from: Virginia Tech
Hometown: Richmond, VA
Why did you pick Key Tech?
I picked Key Tech for many reasons. I’m excited by the opportunity to be able to play so many different roles while working on a variety of projects, and by the chance to see a product all the way from conceptualizing to prototyping and preparing for production. I picked Key Tech because of its amazing location in Baltimore. Most companies that are headquartered in a specific city usually have their campus in the suburbs, but Key Tech truly is in Baltimore. Finally, I picked Key Tech because of the company culture, which is warm and special.
What do you like best about Key Tech so far?
So far, I’ve loved the ability to learn from and work with engineers from other disciplines. You get to wear a lot of hats here!
Favorite project work so far?
My favorite project work so far has been doing thermal testing on a subsystem of one of our devices. I liked collecting and analyzing that data.
What are you excited about in the next year?
I’m not completely sure what next year has in store for me, but I’ll be excited to continue to grow and learn!
If you could have an unlimited supply of something what would that be?
It’s hard to pick an unlimited supply of something. Could say money or clean water and donate it. Could say time, but that might be a curse. But I’ll go with something simpler and say meringues because they make me happy.

Why did you pick Key Tech?
I picked Key Tech because of the outlook of the company. I knew I could help keep it moving forward with what I know and can do.

I like the passion I see in the youth today that work here and how driven they are to come and work and use the skills they have acquired to push this company to the next level.

Knowledge and wisdom! I’m already learning a lot from my supervisor.
Name: Alli Shears, Industrial Designer
Graduated from: University of Cincinnati
Hometown: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Why did you pick Key Tech?
After two amazing internships at Key Tech, I couldn’t imagine myself starting my post-grad career anywhere else. I love that our project work challenges me every day and allows me to use my skills to design meaningful, life-changing products for those in need.
What do you like best about Key Tech so far?
I like the multidisciplinary project work. Because we have a small ID department, I’m gaining experience not only as an industrial designer, but also as a UX/UI designer, design researcher and strategist, and human factors and usability engineer. The culture at Key Tech is also great. Being surrounded by fun, supportive people (and dogs) makes coming to work every day easy.
Favorite project work so far?
Last year during my first internship, I sketched a housing concept for one of Key Tech’s largest IVD projects. The client chose my concept as the favorite direction and the instrument still looks like my original sketch today. It was the first time I’ve seen my own idea go from sketch to real thing and has been an exciting project to watch develop.
What are you excited about in the next year?
At Key Tech, I’m excited to take on more responsibilities and ownership over project work as a full-time designer. Outside of work, I’m really looking forward to a trip I’m taking this summer to Budapest, Vienna, and Prague!
If you could have an unlimited supply of something what would that be?
Cheese curds. And metabolism (so I can eat an unlimited supply of cheese curds).
Name: Max Koschnitzke, Mechanical Engineer
Graduated from: Virginia Tech

Why did you pick Key Tech?
I picked Key Tech because I was really interested in doing interdisciplinary engineering work. I was also interested in working for a smaller company with a fantastic work culture.
What do you like best about Key Tech so far?
Dogs in the office! I also like how different and exciting each day at work is.
Favorite project work so far?
I’ve enjoyed the challenge of creating unique test fixtures for clients and helping them solve complex problems. I’ve also enjoyed learning Solidworks in an industry setting.
What are you excited about in the next year?
I’m excited to see what projects I end up on over the next year and what new skills I can learn.
If you could have an unlimited supply of something what would that be?
I would have an unlimited supply of airline miles to go wherever I wanted!
