Key Tech designed a bench-top system to orient and position a laser at a target with sub-micron positional and micro-radian angular accuracy relative to the target surface. This required several high-end actuators, some ultra-precise machining, and very creative kinematics because of the small physical constraints. KeyTech also developed software to control the system complete with calibration routines and custom multi-degree-of-freedom optimization algorithms. The entire system was developed in just four months, but it was so successful that additional systems were requested.
After nine years of effective use of the system, Key Tech was asked to complete a comprehensive redesign with modern high end optical and electromechanical components in order to achieve dual compatibility with old and new testing tables. Once again the system was extremely successful, and multiple systems were requested.
