On July 17, 2025, the SPARK Hub hosted a 45-minute session led by Will DeMore, Senior Mechanical Engineer and Project Manager at Key Tech, on the critical role of Design for Excellence (DFX) in product development. Will outlined how DFX principles—spanning manufacturing, assembly, cost, test, reliability, service, and sustainability—should be applied from the earliest stages of design and iterated throughout the development cycle. Through case studies in medical devices and diagnostics, he demonstrated how early DFX reduces lifecycle costs, streamlines assembly, improves reliability, and ensures smoother manufacturing transfer.
