Why did you pick Key Tech?
I’ve been working on moving my career towards the medical device field, and the in-neighborhood commute is unbeatable.
What do you like best about Key Tech so far?
It’s the perfect amount of dog interaction. I get to be around them without having to take care of them, just like being an uncle. Also, in terms of the actual work aspects, it’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into establishing processes to make our output highly reliable and consistent.
Favorite project work so far?
I’ve gotten to work on the electromechanical side again, which has been similar to my robotics work from grad school, so that’s been fun to get back into.
What are you excited about in the next year?
For work, I love the process of engineering, so I’m excited to learn more about how Key Tech does things and use my outside experience to bring in some new ideas. Outside of work, I’m starting to do some home renovations, but it’s hard to say if that’s more anxiety inducing or exciting.
If you could have an unlimited supply of something what would that be?
New socks, they are much more comfortable than socks that have been worn/washed even a single time.

Why did you pick Key Tech?
I chose Key Tech because the products they develop make a positive impact on people’s lives.
What do you like best about Key Tech so far?
It’s hard to beat the combination of interesting and impactful work, awesome coworkers, dogs, and amazing architecture that are all part of the Key Tech experience
Favorite project work so far?
Most of my work so far has been for a non-drug, non-invasive migraine treatment device. I’m excited to work on this project because multiple people in my life suffer from migraines, so I empathize with how bad they can be and the difficulty of treating them.
What are you excited about in the next year?
I’m looking forward to getting involved with developing more products, expanding my technical skillset, and interacting with customers and stakeholders.
If you could have an unlimited supply of something what would that be?
I would take the pragmatic approach and just say “money”. This probably signals some moral failure on my part given the nature of the question, but at the end of the day an unlimited supply of anything implicates the potential for unlimited wealth since any goods can be exchanged for money. That being said, I would obviously have to play it cool and keep my money supply under wraps to avoid destabilizing global financial markets. Just don’t ask too many questions if you see me in a fancy yacht.

Why did you pick Key Tech?
After graduating from a school in my hometown I wanted to try out a new area, Key Tech seemed a fantastic company to do that with.
What do you like best about Key Tech so far?
Everything that makes the atmosphere in the office so incredible – friendly people, no stupid corporate rules, dogs, and more!
Favorite project work so far?
I didn’t expect to do so much math as an embedded programmer. Not even a month in and I was doing Geometry, Trigonometry, and solving 3rd degree polynomials. Good thing I like math!
What are you excited about in the next year?
Previously I’ve only had internships where I’m at a place for 2-3 months. By being here longer term I will be able to see the project I’m working on progress from the alpha stage I’m working on to the Beta, and finally be released.
If you could have an unlimited supply of something what would that be?
Time! If I had unlimited time I could do so much more in a given day – like get a good night’s sleep.

Hometown: Centreville, Virginia
Why did you pick Key Tech?
I chose Key Tech because of their resume. Key tech has been successful at bringing complex products to market in the med tech industry. It’s not an easy task to do and they’ve done it well. I wasn’t going to switch over from engineering to sales for just any ol’ product development firm. After reviewing their case studies on the website and speaking with engineers during the interview process, I knew I had to be a part of this company!
What do you like best about Key Tech so far?
The atmosphere and the people.
Favorite project work so far?
I’m a part of the business development team, so I’m not working on typical Key Tech projects, however, I’ve really enjoyed discovering start-up companies in the medical device space. The new technology and science that is being utilized by start-ups is so fascinating and I’m excited about bringing those opportunities to Key Tech.
What are you excited about in the next year?
I’m excited to learn more about the current med tech atmosphere and where technology is trending. I’m also excited to start attending more events in person!
If you could have an unlimited supply of something what would that be?
Dogs, I want all the dogs.
Name: Paedyn Gomes (top center right)

Why did you pick Key Tech?
I liked what I read and heard about the company’s culture and project variety during and before my interviews. I wanted to work somewhere that encourages creativity, healthy relationships between coworkers, and enjoying life while still doing what needs to be done.
What do you like best about Key Tech so far?
The people. Everyone is very nice, true to themselves, and supportive of each other. It makes every day feel a little bit easier.
Favorite project work so far?
Probably instrument testing on one of our larger projects because it has helped me understand the whole system overview and to get a better idea of what’s going on across the different groups.
What are you excited about in the next year?
I’m excited to enjoy Baltimore, see how the projects grow, and to maybe have a chance to get involved in a wider variety of projects.
If you could have an unlimited supply of something what would that be?
Cavs tickets so I could go to any game with as many people as I wanted to bring for the rest of my life. My bonus, the intangible answer is happiness.

Why did you pick Key Tech?
Key Tech’s passion for work in the healthcare space plus the structure and culture of the company. The fact that Key Tech has many employees from multiple disciplines provides opportunities to grow and work with great and talented people.
What do you like best about Key Tech so far?
The people I get to work with who are fun and incredibly smart, plus the continuously interesting projects. I also feel very valued at Key Tech and they place a lot of emphasis on taking care of everyone here.
Favorite project work so far?
Having the opportunity to be involved with user studies and research to really explore current issues that users face, then being able to transfer that valuable knowledge into a product which specifically addresses those issues.
What are you excited about in the next year?
Getting to know colleagues even better and being challenged with new projects.
If you could have an unlimited supply of something what would that be?
Physical: Chocolate. Non-physical: Happiness for me and my family.
Name: Ryder Babik (bottom center left)
Graduated from: B.S. in Engineering from Washington and Lee University and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University
Hometown: Natick, MA
Why did you pick Key Tech?
I chose Key Tech for two main reasons! First, I knew that Key Tech’s focus on novel, high-tech medical product development would enable me to contribute towards a positive impact, sharpen a wide breath of engineering skills, and always remain excited and engaged with diverse projects. Additionally, I had truly never seen another company with such an excellent culture. Everyone seemed so kind and genuine, and the focus on treating people well was evident (since starting a few months ago, I can confirm that this all holds true!).
What do you like best about Key Tech so far?
I have most loved the opportunity to learn. I have already been able to contribute towards multiple projects and further develop my engineering skills across several disciplines. The support offered by other engineers at Key Tech is unparalleled, as everyone is always eager to lend a hand or dive into explaining an unfamiliar technical topic.
Favorite project work so far?
So far, my favorite project work was helping to develop a large gantry system to automate medical diagnostic tests. The project enabled me to wear many hats and it required me to work in the early prototyping and feasibility stage, which excites me most.
What are you excited about in the next year?
A lot! I can’t wait to better understand the various ways in which I can further both myself as an impactful engineer and Key Tech as a holistic company. Outside of work, I look forward to continually exploring Baltimore and rooting myself in this city that I now call home. Go O’s!
If you could have an unlimited supply of something what would that be?
Drunken noodles. Or time… so that I could have the time to eat endless drunken noodles 🙂

Why did you pick Key Tech?
I interned here for two summers, and I loved the fun working environment, the people, and the exciting project work (plus having dogs in the office every day). After that, coming back full-time was an easy choice!
What do you like best about Key Tech so far?
The working environment is just great all around. Varied project work keeps me on my toes and supportive coworkers create such a collaborative space.
Favorite project work so far?
I’ve been working on some redesign work for a new iteration of an older project and being able to see my designs go from CAD to manufactured sheet metal and 3D printed parts to a functional assembly was really satisfying.
What are you excited about in the next year?
I’m excited to get more experience under my belt, both as my current projects come to a close and as I start new ones. Plus I’m excited to explore more of Baltimore as spring, summer, and warm weather come around.
If you could have an unlimited supply of something what would that be?
Books! Or board games! Basically, anything to support my expensive and nerdy hobbies.
