Canon U.S. Life Sciences (CULS) developed an ultra-rapid PCR and thermal melt assay for high volume assay throughput. This instrument leverages novel CULS technology in a microfluidic chip. Building on previously completed subsystem R&D, Key Tech planned and executed a twelve month development effort culminating in the delivery of eight field trial units. Key Tech design work included user research, industrial design, software development, and instrument and microfluidic chip design. The field trial units were assembled and tested at Key Tech, then Key Tech personnel were deployed to monitor initial performance and gauge user feedback. Key Tech also assisted with design transfer to contract manufacturing.
